I've not written about it but.. this year I'm attinding Lotusphere 2009 .... so here we go.
Session JMP206 is providing an overview about good stuff that the eclipse based designer is bringing in:
- New editors for HTML/XML/CSS and so on with auto-completion
- Infoboxes migrated to eclipse properties sheets. This allows for easier copy & paste of information stored in properties.
- Themes, a new feature that allows for EASY customization of web applications using sets of stylesheet files. Going to be great for all your web applications. (Note, for all web applications, not just for XPages applications)
- XPages
It appears that on 8.5.1 we're going to get:
- NEW LotusScript editors (with advanced code editing and all the stuff you expect from eclipse)
- NEW Java Editors (working as an "eclipse java project" inside an NSF database)
I also learned that iWidgets support is in the works. From what I've understood we should be soon able to re-use domino XPages applications as widgets in the context of Lotus Mashups or inside the portal iWidget container.
Finally the development team confirmed they're working to bring xpages runtime support to the client to allow for off-line/client execution of applications built with the new xpages paradigm.
I'm going to visit the innovation lab tomorrow to learn more about this.
